Authorship verification
enotar.io is a copyright and intellectual property registration platform that uses blockchain technology to generate technical proofs of authorship that establish the existence, authorship, and age of artistic works, scientific works, or trade secrets.
Each registration results in a verifiable certificate, sealed with an immutable timestamp, designed to be independently consulted and validated by third parties without compromising the confidentiality of the registered content.
This document describes the operation of the certificates issued by enotar.io, the technical foundation that ensures their integrity, and the objective verification procedure through the tool included in each certificate.
What is an enotar.io certificate?
When a work is registered on enotar.io, the system generates a blockchain-sealed digital certificate, which serves as technical proof of authorship and existence at a specific point in time.
Each certificate:
- Is public and shareable via a unique link.
- Includes a blockchain timestamp.
- Contains a unique file identifier (FUID).
- Incorporates a Registered File Validator.
⚠️ The file content is never made public. Only its cryptographic fingerprint is recorded, preserving complete confidentiality.
Technical foundation
The FUID is generated using a non-reversible cryptographic algorithm applied to the original file.
Any modification to the file results in a completely different identifier, preventing impersonation or alteration.
Processing is performed locally on the user’s device.
Files are never uploaded to the internet and are not accessible to enotar.io or third parties.
Verification tool
All certificates include a Registered File Validator, which allows verification of whether a submitted file is exactly the same as the one originally registered.
Verification requirements
For validation to be possible, two elements are required simultaneously:
- The public certificate link.
- The exact original file that was registered.
Without either of these, verification cannot be performed.
Verification procedure
- Open the public certificate link.
- Navigate to the Registered File Validator section.
- Upload the original file (drag and drop or select from the device).
- The system compares the file’s FUID with the one stored on the blockchain.
Registered file validator
Result interpretation
- Green hash: the file matches exactly.
Registered file validator in matching state
Authorship confirmed.
- Red hash: the file does not match.
Registered file validator in non-matching state
The result is objective, reproducible, and independently verifiable by any third party, without intermediaries.
Evidentiary value
Certificates issued by enotar.io:
- Are sealed with an immutable blockchain timestamp.
- Are linked to a specific file through a unique FUID.
- Allow public verification without exposing content.
- Cannot be retroactively modified or deleted.
These characteristics make them a solid technical proof of authorship and age, suitable as supporting evidence in negotiations, licensing, disputes, or legal proceedings, subject to the applicable assessment in each jurisdiction.
