What information do I need to provide to register my musical works?
When registering, have the following information at hand: the title of the work, the file containing the musical work, and the personal data of participants who hold authorship in the project, such as full name, personal identification number, role, and country of residence or origin.
What is the difference between a registration entity and a Collective Management Organization?
A copyright registration entity documents and certifies the ownership of copyright in a specific creative work. A Collective Management Organization (CMO), on the other hand, primarily collects royalties for the use of protected works and distributes that income to the corresponding rights holders.
What types of digital files are recommended to register?
Examples of recommended formats are MP3, WAV, AIFF, and PDF (for sheet music). We don’t recommend using files that are constantly modified or updated, such as sessions from Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton, Logic Pro, FL Studio, etc.
