As part of this case study series exploring the impact of Enotar.io across different creative fields, we present insights from an interview with Steven Cubillo, writer, editor, and representative of Círculo & Punto Ediciones, a Costa Rican publishing house dedicated to promoting emerging literary voices.

Cubillo, who has also been published internationally in Italy, understands firsthand the challenges writers face when sharing early drafts of their work.

In the editorial world, one of the greatest fears among authors is that their texts might be used without permission during the review or editing process. To address this concern, Círculo & Punto Ediciones integrated Enotar.io into their workflow, ensuring that every manuscript is registered and protected from its very first draft.

During the interview, Steven highlighted how this practice has increased trust between authors and editors, demonstrating that Enotar.io is not only valuable for musicians or visual artists but also an essential tool for the literary sector—providing security, professionalism, and support for those who create and manage written works.

Protection as the starting point

“My experience as an editor tells me that many authors are afraid to send their work to a publisher for review or correction, because there is always the possibility that their authorship could be violated.
That’s why, in our publishing house, we offer the opportunity to register their texts with Enotar.io before beginning the process, so they can feel confident that their work will be protected at all times,” says Cubillo.

This approach has allowed Círculo & Punto Ediciones to offer a more transparent and ethical work environment, where both authors and editors feel supported by a digital certification with international validity.

Protection that transcends borders

Steven also shared his personal experience as an author, when a publishing house in Naples, Italy, decided to translate and publish one of his short stories.

“When signing the contracts, I felt great peace of mind because the entire process was based on the prior registration I already had with Enotar.io. It was the clearest proof that protecting a work is not just a formality, but a real tool that builds trust between countries and publishers.”

Literary innovation with digital protection

In addition to its traditional editorial work, Círculo & Punto Ediciones is developing an innovative project to distribute literature through serialized chapbooks, aiming to make reading more accessible and widespread.

“We want to publish lighter literature in chapbook format so it can circulate more widely. And precisely because of that open and reproducible nature, it is vital to have all the copyrights protected. Enotar.io gives us the peace of mind of knowing that each text, each story, and each idea has solid legal backing,” Cubillo explains.

Conclusion

Steven’s case shows how digital registration tools are beginning to transform the literary field by offering security to writers and publishers alike. His experience demonstrates that protecting a manuscript from its first draft not only strengthens trust between authors and editors but also helps local works transcend borders with greater safety and professionalism.

Acknowledgment
