San José, Costa Rica — Latin American artist incubator Cantería Music hosted a special edition of Cantería Live Sessions at London Room, bringing together seven artists who each performed four original songs before a sold-out audience.

The event was supported by the ACAM Social and Cultural Fund, AIE Costa Rica, Enotar.io, media partners Viva Primavera and Radio U 101.9 FM, as well as Nueva Ola, a platform dedicated to promoting emerging musical talent.

The enthusiastic response from attendees highlighted the strength of Costa Rica’s independent music scene and the importance of initiatives that create opportunities for artist development and visibility.

Seven artists representing today’s independent music scene

The evening opened with Glori Pacheco, a singer-songwriter whose music explores love, memories, and emotional healing through deeply personal and sensitive pop songs.

Next on stage was Karol Barboza, an artist recognized for her intimate songwriting and commitment to Latin American popular music. In 2025, she won Costa Rica’s National Song Festival with Canción en el armario.

The program continued with Le Venz, the musical project of Venezuelan-Costa Rican artist Luis Sojo. His work blends Latin American roots, tropical sounds, and contemporary influences.

The audience also enjoyed a performance by Melany Cubero, a singer-songwriter whose music moves between alternative pop, soul, and R&B, showcasing both vocal power and emotional depth.

Singer-songwriter Laura Ureña brought an intimate and emotionally driven performance that reflects the creativity of Costa Rica’s new generation of artists.

Kenny Barahona, a self-taught musician nominated for the 2025 ACAM Awards, was also part of the lineup, representing a new wave of independent creators building careers through technology and self-management.

The evening concluded with Lioness Haze, known as The Lioness of Reggae. Her music combines identity, consciousness, and energy, making her one of the most influential voices among Costa Rica’s younger audiences.

Cantería Music and artist development

Cantería Music supports music careers through mentorship, professional guidance, and digital tools designed to help artists grow sustainably while maintaining their creative identity.

The event also featured Nueva Ola, a Costa Rican platform dedicated to promoting emerging talent through micro-festivals that combine live music, gastronomy, urban markets, and cultural experiences.

In addition to the featured artists, the concert included a backing band composed of:

  • Jeanna Alice — Keyboards
  • Adrián Navarro — Drums
  • Aaron Zion — Sequences and Synthesizers

Musical direction was led by Bruce González and Studiofrecuencias.
